Voluntary PreK (VPK) is an income-based program and priority will be given to those families that qualify. Completing the Henderson County PreK application packet does not guarantee enrollment in the PreK program. Non-income eligible students are placed on a waiting list once all paperwork is complete. Per the VPK grant guidelines, non-income eligible students will be notified mid-September informing them of their waitlist status.

We are so proud of our district Spelling Bee participants: Jett Hansen, Tiarra Raymer, and Ali Patterson. Jett placed 2nd overall and Tiarra placed 3rd overall! Be sure to congratulate all three of these amazing 7th graders. 💛 🩵

Second Grade started their Cycles in Nature STEM project today. They placed 12 eggs in an incubator, talked about the life cycle of a chicken and will be tracking the development of the eggs in a journal. We are hoping for a successful hatch in 21 days!

COC will meet in the morning at 7:10 in the library. What better way to start your Tuesday?

Congratulations to our Westover Lady Bears Varsity Volleyball team! They won 2nd place in tournament play! So proud!

PreK Registration is Next Week!

To celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday 8th graders had special readers throughout the day. One of our amazing Kindergarten students, Liam, read "Green Eggs and Ham" and Mr. Harrington, our assistant principal, read "The Lorax."

Our 2nd graders got a real treat on Friday to celebrate Dr. Seuss and his birthday. They were visited by ladies from the Frances Hensley Animal Shelter who read "What Pet Should I Get?" and brought a special guest to visit our students (a sweet puppy from their shelter)! The students brought in donations for the animal shelter as well. Mrs. Michelle brought her cat (in the hat!) named Prada. Each class had different guest readers and celebrated all day! One class had an extra special guest, Mrs. Susie Bunch, former educator and superintendent for HC Schools!

March lunch menu and announcements.

Our first graders enjoyed celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday in rotations! They made hats, read outside and shared favorite books with their class, and watched The Lorax.

HCN CHEER TRYOUTS

Parker Smith, Westover 7th grader, fished in the Bassmaster Junior open series representing Henderson County this past weekend. 300 teams from around the country came to fish this tournament because the top ten would move on to be able to fish in the Nationals. He is the first ever in West Tennessee to win this title. He also is leading in the State, West Tennessee, and East Tennessee in the Juniors Bassmasters.

On Thursday, Westover held its Black History Month program. We were encouraged by performances from our choir, readings from students, and a very inspirational message from Parrish Rashad. Thank you to everyone who took part in making this program a huge success!

Congratulations to Sazsori Molina, Josie Montgomery, and Kaylynn Brooks for their outstanding achievements in the 4-H speech competition. It's amazing to see their hard work and dedication paying off! 🎉 Well done to all of them—your Westover Bear community is incredibly proud!
Sazsori Molina 1st Place in 7th Grade,

Level-Up Literacy With S.T.E.M! We had a great time at our event last night where students were able to participate in science, technology, engineering, and math activities that promote literacy and numeracy. This was a fun night with our BEAR family! Thank you to everyone who helped with this event and to all who stopped by!

It is going to be a busy week in Bear Country!
