Pi Day

Today was such a pi-licious day on the small hill. The doors of the school opened to excited staff, teachers, and students bringing in pies to help celebrate such a special mathematical day. The first thing the students heard as they walked to class were pi songs. There was grins, laughing, and groans as the sounds of numbers came down the hall.
There were a myriad of ways Pi day was celebrated today. Some classes found the circumference and area of circles found throughout the hallways. While others made line plots and learned about the basic fundamentals of Pi. Students even got to color pictures about Pi. There was learning how to use rulers to find diameter and radius.  History facts about Pi could be heard through teacher’s doors. “Cringy” math songs played to help students learn about the famous Pi. 5th grade had a guest, Mrs. Linda Vineyard, come read them “Sir Circumference and the Dragon of Pi”.
Today has been a great pi day on the Hill. The biggest hit of the day was eating all the different kinds of pies. Pi has been celebrated to its fullest extent, and we are looking forward to 3.14 coming around next year.
