First grade and Kindergarten had a special visit from Miss Shelby County Volunteer, Jewel Bodkins. She spoke to the students about kindness and each student made a special Valentine for a friend or loved one as a way to show kindness. Students practiced identifying kind and unkind behaviors and helped brainstorm ways they could show kindness every day.

The Bargerton Lady Rebels Varsity team played in the FHU middle school Volleyball Tournament over the weekend. They came up a little short in the silver bracket Championship game against Dyersburg. Super proud of our team!! They are working hard, working together, and playing as a team.

Celebrating Shelly Russell at Bargerton Elementary School ~ I am Shelly Russell. I am a graduate of Lexington High School and the University of Memphis. I taught English Language Arts in 7th and 8th grade for twelve years before moving into the counselor's office this year. I have been blessed beyond measure to be back at my alma mater, Bargerton.
My parents are Tyrone and Sue Smith. I have one son Hunter, daughter-in-law Brihanna, and two grandsons Royce and Noble, along with 6 bonus grandkids thanks to Rodney Reynolds.
My favorite thing to do is to travel, and my favorite place is the beach. I love coffee, cats, and chocolate. A little known fact about me, I was once bitten by one of Earnest Hemmingway's six-toed cats.

Bargerton Beta Club is excited to announce they will host a penny war this year to help raise money for their end-of-the-year trip. Each grade will have a milk jug outside the office to drop their pennies in. Classes will be able to sabotage each other by dropping silver coins in other class jugs. The class with the most pennies will receive an ice cream party.

Nacho Average Fundraiser!! We will be having our nacho and coke fundraiser again this Friday 2/9 and next Friday 2/16. Please help support our 7th & 8th-grade prom by purchasing nachos and a Coke during break time. The cost is $3.50 each

We want to send a special thank you to our school counselors in the Henderson County School District. We appreciate everything that each of you do!
National School Counseling Week, sponsored by the American School Counselor Association, is celebrated February 5-9, 2024, to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within United States school systems and how students benefit as a result of school counselors. National School Counseling Week highlights school counselors' tremendous impact in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.
This week honors school counselors for being actively engaged in helping students examine their abilities, strengths, interests, and talents; for working with parents as they encounter the challenges of raising children in today’s world; for focusing on positive ways to enhance students’ academic, career, and social/emotional development; and working with teachers and educators to provide an educational system where students realize their potential and set healthy, realistic, and optimistic aspirations for themselves. School counselors are certified, experienced educators with a master’s degree in school counseling. The combination of their training and experience makes them an integral part of the total educational program.
Henderson County is fortunate to have school counselors to work with all students to remove barriers to learning by addressing students’ academic concerns, career options, and social/emotional skills. Henderson County School Counselors believe that every child who enters the doors of a Henderson County School is to be treated with respect and dignity and receive the help they need to become a better person. Henderson County School Counselors are the voices of all children in pursuing their dreams and receiving a high-quality education to become productive citizens. The mission of Henderson County School Counselors is for ALL students to receive academic, career, and social/emotional services and support to encourage all students to dream and achieve individual success for future endeavors.
