Henderson County Schools Supervisor of the Year -
Kimberly Bryant
My name is Kimberly Bryant. I am honored to be selected as Supervisor of the year. Currently, I am the Attendance Supervisor for the district. This is my 24th year as an educator. I’ve had the privilege of teaching at South Haven and Bargerton Elementary Schools. My job responsibilities included PE teacher, librarian, boys & girls’ basketball coach, yearbook advisor, and coordinated school health coordinator. My educational journey started with a Bachelors from Middle Tennessee State University. “Go Blue” I received a Masters from Bethel College. Later, I completed a Masters in Administration and Supervision with a concentration in Library Science from MTSU. I have been married to Reggie Bryant for 25 years, and we have a son, Devin. I love sports. Some would say that I am very competitive. I enjoy reading, road trips, and spending time with family and friends. My happy place is at the beach. My goal is to be a positive influence in the lives of our students. I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve our district and community. “Teamwork makes the Dream work.”

The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear; this is just what Westover Singers did. We enjoyed having them for a visit at the Board of Education.

Henderson County Schools Principal of the Year -
Shannon Taylor - Bargerton Elementary School
It is my honor and pleasure to serve as principal of Bargerton School! This is my sixth year at BGS and my thirtieth year in education. I began my educational career in 1995 when I moved to Lexington and taught biology and biology II at Lexington High School. I continued my teaching journey for eight years at LHS, and then I taught eighth-grade science for three years. I was blessed with the opportunity to further my growth as an educator in a leadership role as LHS Assistant Principal in 2006. For the past 19 years, I have worked as a principal, assistant principal, and a district teacher evaluator. These various opportunities have enabled me to work closely with teachers while reflecting on strategies and practices aimed to improve student growth and achievement as well as individual student well being.
I believe life experiences and the way a person responds to life's challenges builds a person's character. As a parent of a child with special needs, I have a vested interest in struggling learners and an inclusive environment with instructional practices that benefit all students. I love working with teachers as we make student centered decisions and develop positive relationships with parents and families.
My educational philosophy is based on the foundational belief that all students can learn. At the heart of a successful classroom is a positive, encouraging, and supportive environment with strong classroom instruction. I have the privilege of seeing this in our classrooms at Bargerton School where the students, teachers, and staff inspire me daily!
I received my bachelor's from the University of TN at Martin and my master's degree from Trevecca Nazarene University.
I have been married to Rick Taylor for 27 years. We have three grown children, Mary Mallette (22), Ben (20), Jack (18), a precious grandson, Wilkes (almost 2), and a Goldendoodle, Oakley (4). Mary Mallette is currently student teaching in 8th grade math. Ben attends Lexington High School and works part time for Coca Cola, and Jack is a freshman at the University of TN .

Henderson County Schools 9-12 Teacher of the Year -
Jonce Lemmings - Lexington High School
My name is Jonce Lemmings. I am honored to be a teacher and part of the community at
Lexington High School. I have the privilege to be the CTE Residential and Commercial
Construction teacher. I am in my third year teaching and enjoy it every day.
I believe that what you do in life should have purpose, whether at work, home or in social
activities. I strive in everything I do to invest and encourage those around me. Teaching has
opened a new opportunity to motivate the next generation and I can see how, in this season of my journey, I can impact in places I can’t even imagine.
I have been happily married for 19 years to Amanda Lemmings who also is a teacher. She is a teacher at Bargerton Elementary, where she teaches third and fourth science and social
studies. Without saying education is a big part of our lives. Our daughter Maddie is a senior at Lexington High School. Where she is involved in so much I can’t list but I believe she has made an impact at her time at LHS, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for her. When we are not chasing Maddie to the next event, we are members at Sand Ridge Baptist Church and truly enjoy serving and growing with our church family.
I would like to thank all the people who believed in me and gave me the opportunities to
succeed and pour into others.

Henderson County Schools 5 - 8 Teacher of the Year -
Scott Bridges - Scotts Hill Elementary School
My name is Scott Bridges. I teach Social Studies in Grades 6, 7, and 8 at Scotts Hill Elementary School. This is my 12th year of teaching, all of which have been spent at Scotts Hill Elementary, where I attended. I graduated from Scotts Hill High School in 2009 and the University of Tennessee at Martin in 2012 earning a degree in Secondary Education with a History concentration.
What I enjoy most about teaching Social Studies is the opportunity to help students understand history, government, and geography in a way that addresses misconceptions and prepares students for their future by gaining a better sense of the past. I want students to walk away from my classroom believing their time was not wasted because they learned something valuable and had fun doing so.
I have been married for 14 incredible years to my best friend, Samantha, who I am now blessed to work alongside. We have two boys, Mack (4) and James (2), that keep us moving and laughing. I thank God for the many blessings he has given me.

Henderson County Schools PK - 4 Teacher of the Year -
April McClain - South Side Elementary School
My name is April McClain. I am currently a 4th Grade Math and Science teacher at South Side Elementary School in Henderson County. I attended Lexington High School and later received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Bethel University. I come from a family deeply rooted in education, with my husband, mom, brother, and sister-in-law also being educators. I have been teaching for 24.5 years. My career started at my home school of South Haven for 0.5 years. After teaching there for half a year, I moved to South Side. While at South Side, I have taught grades 4th and 5th math, 4th and 5th Science, 6th grade Reading, and I coached basketball for 16 years.
I believe in building relationships with my students by showing genuine interest in their lives beyond academics. It is important to establish connections with my students because it helps me discover ways for them to relate to the material I teach in class.
I have been married to Coach Kevin McClain for 23 years. We have two sons, Riley and Maddox, whom we have loved watching grow up and play sports. In my personal time, I enjoy reading, watching the Florida Gators, and spending time with my family.

Mr. Beecham Visits Be Pro Be Proud (Introduction to Skilled Trades) Bus
On November 6th, Mr. Beecham, Director of Schools, visited the Be Pro Be Proud Bus at Lexington High School, where students had the opportunity to explore hands-on simulators showcasing a variety of skilled trades. The event, part of a statewide initiative, aimed to introduce students to high-demand careers in fields such as welding, electrician, truck driving, construction, and manufacturing. The simulators on the bus encourage students to consider these rewarding careers, highlighting the strong job prospects and earning potential they offer in Tennessee's growing economy. A special thank you to Mrs. Nicki Johnson, LHS Career Advisory Specialist, for organizing this opportunity for students. The bus will be at Scotts Hill High School on February 7th and 8th.
